Ai/WLG Red Zone
WLG 2017 Summer Strong Challenge is the addition of Ai’s RED ZONE . In this ahhh-mazing energy system focused program every athlete is fitted with their own heart rate monitor that will give live feedback consisting of Heart Rate Beats/minute, caloric expenditure and Heart Rate Zones. The benefit of this information directly corresponds to the Heart Rate Zone your information is highlighted with.
 
What are heart rate zones?
Every athlete has a personal resting heart rate (a minimum heart rate) and a maximum heart rate. Between these two values are the different heart rate zones that correspond to training intensity and training adaptation benefit. Heart rate zones are closely linked to your aerobic and anaerobic thresholds thus allowing us to stay on target more effectively.
 
There are different ways to specify your heart rate zones. One simple way is to define them as percentages of your max HR. Heart rate zones are closely linked to your aerobic and anaerobic thresholds. Your heart rate is one of the best indicators of how hard your body is working throughout a training session.

In this program your goal is to spend the majority of your training time in the orange zone. By doing so you will burn more calories than traditional workouts and more importantly this will carry on after the workout. This 2 hour post-exercise period is called “EPOC”, which stands for post-exercise oxygen consumption. During this time of recovery the body is trying to return to its pre-exercise state and because of the vigorous contractile nature of the Ai RED ZONE workouts, the EPOC will be higher which translates to an overall increased energy expenditure and thus more calories are burned even after you are done training.

Ai’s RED ZONE will improve the following:
  • aerobic and anaerobic fitness
  • blood pressure
  • cardiovascular health
  • insulin sensitivity (which helps the exercising muscles more readily use glucose for fuel to make energy)
  • cholesterol profiles
  • abdominal fat and body weight while
  • maintaining muscle mass.
  • Stimulation of the pituitary gland which is responsible for the release of the human growth hormone HGH.  HGH (Human Growth Hormone) declines precipitously soon after puberty, and then slows down by age 40, at which point we have less than a third of the HGH production of our youth.
